I had the opportunity to join Team AkzoNobel for the leg start of the Volvo Ocean Race with their next stop being Hong Kong. The Volvo Ocean race is an around the world sailing race that covers 45,000 nautical miles. Melbourne was the 4th stop of 12. I've followed the last 3 editions but this was my first time seeing a boat in the flesh and what an experience it was! It began with heeling the boat over 40 degrees to get under the Bolte Bridge and finished with a dip in Port Phillip Bay as they headed to Hong Kong.
